Alejandra Arriaza Servicio Nacional de Aduanas Chile

She took over as the first Director General of Customs on Friday 19 August 2022, after obtaining the position through the Public Senior Executive Service System (PSESS) of the Civil Service. Her appointment by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, is a milestone for the Customs Service, one of the oldest in Chile, as she is the first woman in its history to accede to the highest position in the Institution. She is a Civil Industrial Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica of Valparaíso with a master’s degree in public management from the University Academy of Christian Humanism. She first joined the National Customs Service in 1998 as a professional in the Customs Studies Department. In 2001 she was appointed Head of the Customs Studies Department. Subsequently, in 2006, she was appointed Deputy Director of the Metropolitan Regional Customs Office. After developing this important management, she was appointed as Deputy Technical Director of Customs in 2011. Previously, she was the Metropolitan Regional Director of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service, a post she also obtained via PSESS.
